PARENT COMMUNICATIONS
PARENT COMMUNICATIONS
Emails
Parent-to-Parent emails are set up to facilitate parent & kid connection outside and inside the classroom. The parent-to-parent email lists give families an ideal place to set up birthday parties, ask for and offer help and advice, and figure out what other parents are up to. Our children benefit so much when parents are involved and communicating with one another!
Website
All updates regarding school and event dates as well as connection & fundraising can be found on this website! Best way to get up to date information if you’re not an email person!
Newsletter
Essential Information will be provided in our weekly school updates which will be provided by our Principal Jennifer Barr and Friends of BCSIS in the BCSIS News & BCSIS Highlights! Please look for weekly updates in your email! (All News can be found on the BCSIS and Friends Websites!)

Volunteering & Donations
Support BCSIS
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our parents who generously volunteer their time and the invaluable donations to the ARTS fund, we are able to create an extraordinary learning environment and community.
These volunteer hours and contributions enable us to offer enriching experiences and resources that make our school truly special. From innovative educational programs to exciting extracurricular activities, every aspect of BCSIS is enriched by the collaborative spirit of our families.
Together, we build a supportive and nurturing community, empowering our teachers to go above and beyond, and providing our students with unparalleled opportunities for growth and success. Join us in making a difference – your involvement fuels the magic of BCSIS!"

20 HOURS
Volunteering
Volunteering in the classroom and at school events is a joyful way to support our kids and strengthen our community! We encourage each parent to contribute 20 hours of their time, helping to create a vibrant learning environment and fostering lasting connections. Join us in making our school a brighter place for everyone!

$325/PER STUDENT
ARTS Fund
Our ARTS Fund and other fundraising activities fund our non-profit efforts that support BCSIS!
We ask that each family donate $325 per child each year by check made out to Friends of BCSIS or in the link below.

$85/PER STUDENT
School Supplies
BCSIS offers a unique and time-saving solution to school supplies. Instead of navigating crowded stores and comparing prices, we ask each student to contribute $85.00 through a check made out to BCSIS and given to their teacher.
It's a wonderful way to create an equal learning environment, where all students have the tools they need to thrive.
How we make BCSIS special
20 hours per parent
Join our vibrant community in creating unforgettable moments, from beloved traditions like the Winter Festival to fun events like the Dance-a-thon & Bike/Walk to School Day. We need just 20 hours of your time annually to keep these experiences alive. Together, let's foster togetherness, celebrate learning, and make a lasting impact for our children.
$325 per child
It takes more than just the funding provided by the city and state to make our special curriculum happen. Your contribution will go a long way to support our teachers, enhance our classroom learning environments, provide funding for paras and specialists, and so much more.
Your donation is tax deductible!
Ed Council
Composed of teachers and parents, Ed Council provides many of the community events and projects that benefit BCSIS. These projects consist of but are not limited to high quality art supplies, paras and student enrichment, seasonal festivals, speaker series, garden-to-table, shade project to provide additional outdoor learning options, wooden desks in the classroom and more. Ed Council meets on the third Wednesday after school. Childcare is offered in the North Kindergarten classroom.

Events
At BCSIS, teamwork and creativity reign! The parents in each class organize unique events that make our school special. We forge lifelong memories, foster belonging, and build a close-knit community through the help of parent volunteers.
Autumn Social
In early fall, we gather for a fun, family-oriented event with music, food, and apples, celebrating community and fostering friendships, organized by the Community Building Committee.
Spiral Garden
This ticketed, parent-organized off-campus event guides children through a silent spiral journey with story, song, and harp music, where they find a crystal reflecting light to take into the world.
Community Evenings
Held once in the Fall and once in the Spring, these meetings are an opportunity to gather around a topic at school. The Fall meeting is usually educational for parents, with childcare. Spring is usually family-wide.
Lantern Walk
In early November, K-3 graders celebrate this magical festival by making lanterns and walking together through the darkness, lighting the way with their handmade creations as they honor art, music, and the changing seasons.
Spring Carnival
The community celebrates the coming of spring with food, music, crafts, and flowers.
FUNraisers
Host a FUNraiser to bring parents together, raise funds for our school, and support our programs—whether it's a pottery night, square dance, or hike followed by brunch. Your involvement helps foster connections and supports our educational goals. More info here.
Winter Festival
For this cherished fundraiser, volunteers turn the school into a festive wonderland where the community gathers to enjoy a meal, shop for handmade goods, and watch a student talent show.
May Day
This heartwarming event honors the age-old tradition of May Day celebrations with flower crowns and international dances.
