Friend of BCSIS
The Boulder Community School of Integrated Studies (BCSIS) provides a rich aesthetic environment in which artistic expression, active involvement, and academic excellence provide a foundation for the learning experience. A holistic approach addresses the head, heart, and hand of each child. Rhythm and sensitivity to unique developmental ages assure that students are held in a secure place where, through exposure to multicultural activities and creative projects, they emerge as self-defined, competent, and compassionate individuals.
Weaving The Ribbons of Community.
The roles of Friends and ED Council are interwoven, yet they are separate. Below is a bit about each ribbon woven into our school to create a great relationship with the purpose of supporting our students, staff and community at BCSIS.
Friends of BCSIS:
Friends of BCSIS is a parent-led, nonprofit organization that raises, manages, and distributes funds to finance the programs recommended by the ED Council. We're the fundraisers that provide the approximately $100,000 needed each year to pay for additional paraeducator and specialist hours, field trips and special events, classroom materials, and so much more!
ED Council:
The Education Decision Council, or ED Council, is the collaborative body of parents, teachers, and staff working together to enhance and support the students at BCSIS. The purpose of ED Council is to provide ongoing dialog between the parent community and BCSIS staff, to plan and execute community-focused activities that encourage parent involvement, to establish financial priorities to support the vision and strategies of the school, and to ensure that those plans and programs are implemented.
